Our only impact is on your taste buds...

Moving into their 150th year, Adnams have been on a journey. They have evolved from simply doing the right thing, to creating a full-fledged award-winning framework which makes complete business sense. They value their Suffolk home and are committed to protecting its future, because they aim to leave our footprints in the sand, not on the planet.

They are fiercely independent and it has allowed them to be innovative and to do things in their own way, but they have always been committed to a sustainable future; one in which progress is balanced with care, thought and consideration for their environment and  communities.

It is their values and embedded culture of sustainable success that drive the business to continually improve.

Responding to climate change is an organising principle at Adnams, driving strategy and workstreams – they are committed to achieving climate as well as social justice. For them, it is all about actions not just words. For over 15 years they have cleaned beaches and expanded the scope to other areas: they pioneered glass bottle light weighting, have chosen 100% renewable electricity since 2018 and have invested in reducing water usage. Their numerous awards, including being awarded The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development three times, and The Carbon Trust Innovation Award for energy efficiency – demonstrates their commitment to making a bigger difference.

Adnams believe that sustainability should not be treated separately to core business and it is embedded throughout every decision the business makes. They have an established formal agenda which drives forward their sustainability agenda and ensures that material climate-related risks as well as opportunities are properly considered and managed.

They continue to scope their impacts through four elements: water, waste, biodiversity and carbon – all of which can be applied through every level of the business and suppliers.

Adnams commitment remains to understand, learn, do and review. They are unrelenting in their ambition to be at least net zero in the future aided by understanding the full impact of their supply chain. They believe
that the focus should be on effecting real change. Being a good business is what Adnams believes. They take decisions for long-term sustainable success, both financial, environmental and social.
